Actor Dustin Diamond in “Saved By The Bell” passes away of Cancer

American actor, director, stand-up comedian, and musician Dustin Diamond has passed way on Monday (February 1, 2021) in Florida and the cause of his death was small-cell carcinoma (a type of cancer). He was 44 years old.

The representative of the actor, Roger Paul, issued a press statement announcing his death and said, “He (the actor) was diagnosed with this brutal, relentless form of malignant cancer only three weeks ago. In that time, it managed to spread rapidly throughout his system.”

Dustin Diamond was admitted to the hospital in Florida last month and his team later revealed that he had cancer. Confirming that the actor had a peaceful death, Roger Paul stated, “Dustin did not suffer. He did not have to lie submerged in pain. For that, we are grateful.”

Dustin Diamond was best known for his role as ‘Screech’ on the mega-hit TV series called “Saved By The Bell”, which ran from 1989 to 1993. The late actor was a part of all four seasons that include Saved by the Bell: The College Years, Good Morning, Miss Bliss and Saved by the Bell: The New Class. Last year, a series of Saved by the Bell was launched, featuring many of the original cast including Mario Lopez, Tiffani Thiessen, Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Elizabeth Berkley. However, Dustin Diamond was not included in the cast.

In addition to Saved by the Bell, Dustin Diamond has appeared in several reality television series, including The Weakest Link, Celebrity Boxing 2 and the 5th season of Celebrity Fit Club. He was also a part of the 12th season of Celebrity Big Brother. In December 2013, the actor made an appearance in an episode of OWN’s Where Are They Now?

Mario Lopez, Dustin’s former co-actor, took to Twitter to say goodbye to him. He shared a picture of him with Dustin Diamond and wrote, “Dustin, you will be missed, my man. The fragility of this life is something never to be taken for granted. Prayers for your family will continue on…”

Born on 7 January 1977 in San Jose, California, the late actor Dustin Diamond also faced a number of lawsuits where he was sued for outstanding taxes and in foreclosure procedures for missing mortgage payments. The actor appeared on reality TV, made a sex tape and produced a revealing documentary on Lifetime TV titled “The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story”. In 2015, he was sentenced to four months imprisonment for his role in a Wisconsin barroom stabbing.
