Gujarati director and actor Arvind Joshi has passed away on Friday (Jan 29, 2021) morning in a Mumbai hospital at the age of 84. The veteran actor had no illness and died of old age.
Actor Sarita Joshi, his sister-in-law, has informed in a new release that Arvind Joshi was hospitalized at the Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai because of his age-related health problems and died peaceably in his sleep. The cremation ceremony was scheduled to take place at the Vile Parle Crematorium in Mumbai in the afternoon of January 29.
Arvind Joshi was a famous Gujarati theater artist who was involved in a number of stage productions throughout his life. He was best known for his work on the Gujarati stage than in the movies. The actor has also been linked to films, having played in the popular release of Bollywood.
The actor was one of the assistant director of the film Ittefaq (1969), featuring Rajesh Khanna and Nanda. Arvind Joshi also acted as the eldest son of Thakur Baldev Singh in the hit film Sholay (1975). He also played the role of an inspector in the film Apmaan Ki Aag (1990). His last film in which he played was K. Amar’s Jagat Jogni Maa Khodiyar (Gujarati) in 2006.

Lok Sabha MP and actor Paresh Rawal also expressed his condolences to Arvind Joshi’s family and tweeted, “Irreparable loss to Indian theatre; with grief we say goodbye to the noted actor Shri Arvind Joshi. A stalwart, a versatile actor, an accomplished thespian, are the words that come to mind when I think of his performances. My condolences to Sharman Joshi & family. AUM SHANTI.”

Arvind Joshi is survived by his wife and two children – actor Sharman Joshi and actress Mansi Joshi. Actor Sharman Joshi is married to actor Prem Chopra’s daughter, Prerana Chopra and has three children. Actress Mansi Joshi is wife of actor Rohit Roy and has one child.
