The creators of Stree (2018) have returned with the new horror-comedy movie, Roohi. The trailer of Roohi seems as stunning as the original because it teases the story of a ghost who possesses brides shortly after their marriage. Roohi is set to come out in cinemas on March 11, 2021.
The trailer of Roohi, featuring Janhvi Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma in the lead roles, was released on Tuesday (February 16) at 12 pm. The movie, which was previously entitled Rooh Afza and then Roohi Afzana, is directed by Hardik Mehta and produced by Mrigdeep Singh Lamba and Dinesh Vijan under the banner of Maddock Films.
The trailer promises to offer full-on entertainment, as well as spooky vibes. The trailer shows that Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma deal with scary Janhvi Kapoor, who is possessed with a ghost and is out to cause devastation. How they try to tackle the ghost in Janhvi Kapoor seems like a tricky thing for both of them.
Sharing the trailer on his Twitter account, Rajkummar Rao wrote: “Watch the #RoohiTrailer at your own risk kyunki iss baar mard ko jyada dard hoga!”
A few hours prior to the release of the trailer, Janhvi Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma posted new posters of the movie on their instagram account.
Rajkummar Rao had shared two first-glimpse posters of the movie with the caption, “ye to bas muh dikhai hai (this is just the first look).”
Sharing the teaser, Janhvi Kapoor wrote, “Iss Bhootiya Shaadi mein aapka swagat hai! (Welcome to this scary wedding).”
Sharing the posters, Varun Sharma wrote, “Iss bhootiya shaadi ki pheli jhalak! (the first glimpse of this scary wedding).”
The subtleties and nuances of Roohi will make the viewers curious. Most scenes are loaded with great VFX, and the scary soundtrack, needed for a horror movie.
The movie is about the story of a witch, Roohi (played by Janhvi Kapoor), who kidnappes brides on their honeymoon. Hitesh and Lakiresh (played by Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma), two boys from the village, take the responsibility of saving the brides, but find themselves stuck in a forest with Roohi.
Janhvi Kapoor portrays the role of a witch who will be saved only if she gets married to a man. She is able to twist her neck 360 degrees, and her feet are turned back. Rajkummar Rao will remind the audience of his funny character of Anurag Basu’s Ludo with his jesters, his sense of clothing and his dance steps. On the other side, Varun Sharma appears to be in a great form with his flawless comic timings. His empathy for a ghost gives the movie a touch of humanity.
